Often, the vision of a wedding is driven by the couple. Occasionally, parents are involved, and though that might make some planners cringe at the notion, for Sydney and Jason’s wedding, the collaboration was welcomed by Tan Weddings & Events. It was clear from the start that the bride’s parents genuinely cared about the scope and the aesthetics of their daughter’s wedding and enjoyed being a part of the process just as much as the couple! This is where the experience of planners like Tan Weddings & Events is essential - they possess a balance of diplomacy and decisiveness, of collaboration and curating. They scheduled a series of meetings online and in person to discuss priorities and expectations, they met at various showrooms to see and touch the place settings and linens, they visited the venue with the family to visualize the flow - where guests would be lining up for the bar, where they would dance, dine, and enjoy the vineyard views. TWE assembled a top notch team to orchestrate a three-day event with a welcome soiree, wedding day and after party, and farewell brunch. The tablescape, for instance, to achieve effortless elegance, required the masterful blend of Theoni tables and place settings, BBJ La Tavola linens, Shimmer & Stain menus, and Flourish floral arrangements. The wedding weekend allowed for all their friends and family to fully enjoy the wine country region, to spend time with each other, to celebrate togetherness. The couple chose B.R. Cohn Winery to host their main event because of its "relaxed vibe, but it was also still elegant and beautiful. It definitely reminded us of our relationship and we are excited to go back and visit!" as the bride, Sydney, recalls fondly. As the couple would say their main priority was to "not have to worry about things on the day of" and could relax "knowing everything was taken care of!" The experience for the couple and the parents was of joy and gratitude. When asked what was their favorite part, we were met with their joyful answer of, "Everything! We seriously loved every minute." In fact, parents Kendra and Dan hired TWE for their other daughter’s wedding in Arizona later this year! Who wouldn't love playing dress up for one of most important days of their life? As thrilling as the process can be, it can also be overwhelming. We have three tips to keep in mind to keep the process as smooth as it should be whether you are looking for one dress, two, or even three! Have A Budget in Mind Make sure you have a budget in mind plus 30% extra for alterations. Whether you are prioritizing your budget or prioritizing your dress, a budget is a great first factor in narrowing down a selection. Wedding gown retailers have hundreds, if not thousands of choices - a clear budget will start you in the right direction! Shop EARLY! Some dresses take months just to get in stock! Some brides end up creating a custom gown with different elements, some gowns require lengthy production times or need a surplus of time for a variety of alterations. If you're purchasing multiple gowns, the time should only be increased to make sure all of your pieces come together. The last thing you want is to be stressed that your dress won't be ready on time, so fight the procrastination and knock this out early! You'll be so happy and relieved that you did. Consider Bustling Decide if the dress will be floor length without bustling, visualize whether you want a train that will need bustling, or consider whether you want to purchase or rent a second dress for dancing all together! Be sure to have a designated person from the wedding attend your alternation appointments to learn how to bustle your dress if needed. Take videos of the process and make sure they're comfortable with the steps prior to the wedding day. On wedding day itself, have a crochet hook handy as these are incredibly helpful for those tiny buttons and loops! Our team is full of great advice and tips and we'd love to share with you how we can be a part of your special day :) Photography & Videography: Nicole Sepulveda Photography
Planning, Coordination, Design, Piano & Gift Bags: Tan Weddings & Events Venue & Catering: CIA Greystone Calistoga Ranch Florals: Scarlett & Grace HMUA: Jenn V Beauty Dress: Vera Wang Shoes: Cinderollies Tux: Tom Ford There’s nothing quite like a stunning detailed composition full of the most delicate pieces from your wedding day. These flat lay photos leave space for the imagination to journey down paths of what a wedding could shape up to be. They capture the things that wedding guests often overlook and preserve the items' special qualities for the years to come to reflect on with pure joy. Now how exactly do you achieve creating these dreamy photos? Everyone will remember their wedding shoes, rings, ties, and hair accessories, but here’s our list of 3 must-have items to be sure to pack for your wedding photographer that you might not initially think of. Full Invitation Suite And yes! We mean FULL invitation suite. Include your invite, the envelope, the RSVP card, details card, even the stamps if they go with your aesthetic! These start the base of so many amazing detail shots and it’s something you likely wouldn’t think of needing on the day of the wedding :) Perfume & Cologne Bottles Some people are tempted to pack a travel sized fragrance for convenience reasons on their wedding day. Instead, take up the extra space and bring the full size bottle! These are always so much prettier and bring a textural element to your photos. Extra Floral Blooms & Ribbons When planning ahead with your florist, be sure to ask them to include a few extra blooms for your photographer to incorporate into your detail shots. Florists will often have stunning ribbon choices as well and we highly recommend requesting a couple extra feet to add another layer to the composition! We’re here to remember the little things and to help you with tasks both large and small! Schedule your consultation meeting today for more information on how we can make your day a complete success :) Even before linens, placesettings, and florals beautifully grace the dinner tables, a well-conceived layout is essential to the experience of the wedding celebration. Early in the design phase of planning, Tan Weddings & Events accounts for the character and strengths of the venue to optimize the setting, the flow, and the fun of the event. The placement of ceremony chairs, the orientation of the sweetheart table, the spacing of dinner rounds and farm tables, location of the dance floor, DJ, and lighting, the bar and cocktail tables, the proximity of coffee and dessert stations to the dinner space, and the caterer's prep area - these are just a few of the layout details that warrant thoughtful and keen consideration. TWE starts with concept renderings that are shared with the client and the vendor team, then fine-tuned and finalized, and on day of production, the TWE team supervises placement of furnishings and decor. Rick Tan, principal planner and designer, brings a tape measure on production day to ensure dinner tables are perfectly placed and chairs are evenly set! "Little-known fact, I am certified in feng shui! Along with an obsession for symmetry, I believe layout design should give guests a good sense of orientation, they should be able to fluidly transition through the different parts of the event, to have a sensual experience. In reality, if the layout is well-conceived, the couple and their guests should not even notice it, only that they are having a fabulously fun evening!" Their day exuded warmth, intimacy, joy, and genuine adoration. From every small detail, whether it was the photos of every year in their relationship leading up to their marriage, whether it was their incredibly unique and dedicated vows, or whether it was the obvious love and support their friends & family have of their blooming marriage, the day was one to remember. Emily herself created the signage and menus for the day - her design choices tied perfectly with the color scheme and aesthetic of their day. One of Emily & Renzo's friends actually created and handmade their wedding rings! Truly a one of a kind gift of love. Joyce Zhou Designs enhanced Emily's and made sure there was not a curl out of place. Her team even stayed extra long for a hair change before the reception! Once the gowns were on, the hair was pinned, the ties were tied, it was showtime. Carneros Resort and Spa provided the perfect July evening backdrop with the sun setting behind the wine country hills. Their team created the tastiest of appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Strelitzia Flower Co. delicately created succulent centerpieces which doubled as the perfect guest favor for the end of the evening! The evening ended with s'mores by the fire and a dancing crowd that loved to move - DeBorba Events made sure the party was a hit from the very start! Kate Kennedy Photo did an incredible job capturing the essence of the day and made sure the couple's personalized touches will be cherished forever. Vendor List:

DJ: DeBorba Events HMUA: Joyce Zhou Designs “We are partners and colleagues and friends and lovers,” declared Laurie and Alfonse, of their relationship, adding, “and into French Art Nouveau!” It inspired their planners Rick and Jennifer Tan of Tan Weddings & Events to create an event that was sweet and soulful, romantic and joyful. After visiting some venues in Napa and Sonoma with their planners, the couple chose Silverado Resort & Spa. Its sprawling manicured lawns, luxe accommodations, and top notch catering offered the perfect setting for hosting their guests - colleagues and friends and families. The mansion was designed and built over 150 years ago with touches of Italian and French architecture, which resonated with the couple’s aesthetic. A favorite poster the couple owned by Art Nouveau painter Alfonse Mucha provided the color palette and the spirit of the event. Florals by Flourish Designs were lush, whimsical, and colorful. The signage and paperie by Nikisha King Design House was en pointe with gold tool line motifs. But it was the soul of the couple - their genuine love, sense of gratitude, humor, fun, and flair that radiated to make their celebration magnifique! The bride’s parents, Andy and Kelly Peart, are co-owners of a boutique rental company called Blossom Farm Vintage Rentals, who provided key decor that defined the essence of the event. From a rustic white hutch that held glass vases with guest names, to an eclectic mix of lounge furniture in blush and ivory, each thoughtfully arranged piece was a symbol of the parent’s pride and support for their children. As planners, Jennifer and Rick Tan of Tan Weddings & Events have been fortunate to plan not only Ally and Zach’s wedding but Ally’s older sister’s wedding as well! It seems the essence of family also extends to the people touched by the Peart passion for closeness and creativity. Rick and Jennifer Tan have partnered with Blossom Farm for many events, and along with other creatives that brought their love and expertise, Ally and Zach’s wedding radiated all the warmth and gratitude of a family gathering, elevated with touches of country chic, romantic elegance, and essence of vintage. Tan Weddings & Events had the honor of planning and officiating for the couple, whom lead planner, Rick Tan, describes as “incredibly gracious, genuine, and family-oriented, and just ready to party!” A Wedding of Passion The California mission architecture of Sonoma Golf Club proved the ideal backdrop for a laid back aesthetic with terra cotta tile, plaster walls, and rich velvet drapery. The florist, J. Blooms, crafted effortless garden vignettes of green and white. The color palette of black and white elevated the event in a chic, elegant vibe, yet the peacock blue punctuated the look with bold and playful flirtatiousness! And the mariachi, Mi Tierra Linda, filled the air with cultural flair and fervor. The Final Key Tan Weddings & Events highly values their team of creatives - it is truly like conducting a symphony of brilliant musicians that makes the event so harmonious, but Rick Tan is quick to add, “The true success of an event and the joyful experience of the attendees stems from the couple. Agueda and Octavio’s hearts were so full of love that their energy rippled out like a song, lifting everyone up, celebrating family, partying the night away!" Although this is never ideal, their day turned out even better than expected and was held entirely outdoors as an extra precaution. A New Plan Originally, Taylor & Tom had planned to have an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour followed by an indoor reception. However, with the blessing of a beautiful day, we collectively decided hosting everything outdoors would ultimately make their guests feel the most comfortable. Their beautiful ceremony at Sonoma Golf Club's Oak Tree Lawn kicked off their celebration, followed by a beautiful dinner on the same lawn! Standard Event Rentals handled the draping which helped create the natural barrier to make this flip possible! Fairmont Sonoma's team transformed the space flawlessly. Flourish created the most stunning arrangements that fit with the natural ivy beautifully. The incorporation of fruit with the centerpieces brought the tables to life and gave the ultimate late summer atmosphere to the tablescape. The happy couple ended their night dancing under the stars and string lights on the upper terrace of the venue. HIP Entertainment provided live music which kept the crowd moving all night long! It was one of our favorite settings to see dancing take place. At the end of the night the wedding party departed on a classic wine trolley from Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley which made for a great getaway (which was also very suitable given the location!) All together the wedding ran smoothly and turned out even better than Taylor & Tom had expected. The new plan ended up being a huge hit across their guests and everyone could celebrate safely! These were the top priorities for David and Anne, a couple from the Bay Area with a sophisticated aesthetic and tastes. Tan Weddings & Events, their planner, knew immediately the perfect pairing: Hamel Family Wines would host, and Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn would cater the event, both in Sonoma Valley. A Wine Country Wedding Hamel Family Wines cultivates a chic blend of modernity - a tasting room of steel, glass, and rammed earth, and traditional - a wine cave, oak barrels, and a biodynamic vineyard. Fairmont Sonoma proudly caters for large-scale events, prepared with locally-sourced ingredients and customized for the client’s discerning palate! A Team of Luxury To complete the guest experience, Tan Weddings & Events assembled a team of creatives including Theoni, Bright, and Le Bloomerie. The place settings and florals created a richly textured, sensual experience that supported the four-course meal of seared scallops, Dungeness crab and cauliflower soup, roasted beet salad, and entrees such as filet mignon with potato dauphinoise. Dessert followed, along with cake from Flour & Bloom, as Talia Koval painted a live canvas of the celebration. Anne and David, seated at a u-shaped array of farm tables, flanked by their family and close friends, shared words of gratitude - for each other, for the blessings of togetherness, for an evening that was their dream come true.
