One of the many wedding traditions in the U.S. and other parts of the world is to give guests small gifts to thank them for celebrating with you. Couples often wonder, “how do I choose something cheap but meaningful?” or “does it look bad if I don’t have wedding favors for my guests?” Contrary to what you may believe, wedding favors are NOT necessary and many couples are shifting away from this tradition.
Here’s a list of reasons why you should consider skipping the wedding favors:

Lavender farm bliss!!! Ed is a wedding photographer, and Maggie loves lavender -- they met us early on and envisioned the perfect day for their guests to share. Ed's mother crafted special florals, and incorporated lavender into the flowers and loose lavender sachets as favors for the guests. Maggie's maiden name is Snyder, so Snyder pretzels following the ceremony was a given! Hues of sage green, lavender, champage, ivory and mettalic copper were woven throughout the event, matching the look of the beautiful Cache Creek Lavender Farm. By far, Maggie & Ed's wedding day was one of the sweetest ceremonies and nicest group of guests we have ever seen! Photo | Poema Collective

Coco's mom called us and asked about planning an event within a few months at one of our favorite venues. We were beyond excited to help them bring their vision to life! Fabulous Kim from the Pollen Mill sourced local flowers, including taking a trek to Half Moon Bay to find just the right shade of orchid for this wedding day. Pops of cobalt blue were seen in the beautiful floral vases and the bride's pretty shoes. Blues and oranges were paired to create some vibrance within the reception space. If you have not visited Gundlach Bundschu before, you are in for a treat! With a gorgeous tasting area, super-long wine cave, incredible outlook view of the vineyards and pond, their iconic old truck, and sweet barn -- there are many spots to explore on site. The wine is delicious, too! Coco and Jake fell in love with the barn when they first saw it. The historical building is just steps away from a perfect view of the vines, so the couple decided to have their ceremony with the vineyard as the backdrop. Getting ready in beautiful Mary's House is quite an experience, in itself, and ended up being perfect for photos. We wish this couple and their new baby all the best! Photography | XSiGHT Photography

With picturesque views, multiple options for ceremony, cocktail and reception spaces, the most exquisite bridal suite and awesome groom's den, and the best venue staff, you can't go wrong with a wedding at The Maples. Our styled shoot's theme was Spring! Featuring ceremony by the magnificent Chinese Pistache tree, cocktail hour by the Stable, and reception in the Arena, our incredibly gifted team of vendors had a wonderful time figuring out ways to feature some of the different spaces available on site. A visit from Sugarland Horse Park horses made our day complete! And honestly, our models giggled and vendors had fun, the whole day. Check out a couple of photos below of the gorgeous honeymoon suite, too! Thank you to this incredible vendor team (including the florist's sweet daughter/flower girl!) for making this day absolute wedding perfection. Photography | Elizabeth Warrick

There comes a point when you ask, “do I really need to hire a wedding planner? Won’t it be a waste of money?” Regardless of whether you plan events for a living or have no idea where to start, hiring a wedding planner is a necessity, not a luxury. Here’s why...
Money Contrary to what you may believe, a wedding planner can save you money in the end. A professional planner has years of experience and connections with the vendors you need. They will be able to get you the best vendors for the best prices, on top of providing you with everything you need throughout the process. Additionally, they will help you break down your budget from the start to set you up for success. Time A wedding planner will save you an incredible amount of time while making sure that you’re still a part of planning your special day. They will use their expertise, software, and planning team to efficiently plan your wedding into fruition so that you can stop spending hours on Google. Stress You may feel confident and excited about planning your own wedding. Perhaps you have friends or family that you trust and are willing to help. This is great! That being said, planning a wedding is tremendously stressful for you and those you’ve enlisted to help. Oftentimes, it doesn’t even go as planned. Shift that energy towards enjoying this special time with your friends, family, and soon-to-be wedded partner. You want to remember your wedding as a joyful and meaningful experience, not one of the most stressful times in your life! Flow Simply put, a professional wedding planner knows what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. A wedding has numerous moving parts that a coordinator will be able to handle smoothly. It is necessary to have a professional who has not only made sure that every element is in place, but is experienced in handling any complications that may arise. At Tan Weddings & Events, our Premiere Event Package includes everything you need to have a successful, stress-free, and memorable wedding. Connect with us today to get started. Behind Every Fairytale Wedding is a Fairy Godmother (Planner) and a Magical Vendor Team!
When the groom reached out to Tan Weddings & Events to craft a fairytale wedding, he gave two key directives: lots of pink, and a timeframe of less than two weeks! Well, that’s going to need two handfuls of fairy dust! With a swish of her wand, lead planner and owner Jennifer Tan of Tan Weddings & Events mobilized a team of northern California’s leading creatives to make it happen. Harvest Inn in St. Helena, CA, provided the charming setting of weathered brick patios and a lush vineyard, with the Mayacama Mountains creating a hazy backdrop. The team kept to the palette of pink - lots of pink - in assembling ceremony and reception vignettes that were ornately detailed and delicately scaled. The result? Sensual and scrumptious romance sprinkled with sparkly fairy dust. When the beautiful bride, with a crown adorning her head and a perfectly arranged bouquet in her hand, arrived in her white carriage trimmed in red velvet, the groom got his fairytale, happily ever after, wedding! This incredible day was featured on Style Me Pretty.

Allison and JT wanted simple ranch elegance, and an event that would bring together family and friends. With tones of copper, ivory, sage green, gray, and hints of maroon, the wedding's design was perfect for a venue like The Maples in Woodland. Instead of a traditional, large wedding cake, this couple fell in love with Creamy's by Cayla Jordan and had a display filled with them for their guests. If you have not had a chance to try one of these, you are in for a treat! Check out Cayla's website below for locations. One of the best parts about The Maples is the honeymoon suite. Being able to stay the night and not having to travel anywhere after the wedding is pure bliss. We layed rose petals on the couple's bed and brought inside some of their leftover florals at the end of the wedding. Check out the photos below and see how many touches of copper you can find -- copper is our new favorite metallic accent! How blissful to get married with 20 of your closest family and friends, while having the perfect destination wedding in gorgeous wine country. Amanda and John could not wait for their group to venture out to the Napa area for a week filled with wine tours, meals together, and of course, their wedding celebration! With a talented guitarist, amazing officiant (of course!), artistic photographer, lovely florals, and the most amazing food, resort rooms, and local wines, this couple had the ceremony and reception of their dreams, followed by days exploring Northern California for their honeymoon. Sometimes, having a smaller group means more time and resources spent on the details! Check out the lovely details in our photos, below. We loved being a part of this joyous couple's beautiful day! Lincoln Avenue is located in Woodland, and is truly one of the most beautiful indoor venues in Northern California. With a newly refurbished bridal suite, display kitchen, cockatil patio, Scottish-inspired bar, pub room, and two main event rooms, Lincoln Avenue offers options for weddings and events. The wood flooring and stone for the walls were imported from Europe and give the entire venue an elevated vibe. Thank you to the amazing vendor team, listed below, who assisted with creating lovely vignettes for the couples who came on the tour! And, for couples wanting an outdoor ceremony, the gorgeous church across the street offers options to get married in their courtyard. The sweetest couple, and most exquisite Sonoma destination wedding day! Thea and Colin envisioned a weekend for their traveling guests where they could relax in the California wine country, while enjoying wine tasting and amazing food. Thea's favorite dishes are everything pasta, so the Fairmont Sonoma team had fun creating a customized menu for their wedding celebration. Pale blush kissed neutral tones for florals, and an elegant swath of pale blue adorned the table linens. In lieu of table numbers, the couple created table names to reflect parts of their world where they had previously traveled. Live jazz music for cocktail hour and dinner added to the dreaminess of the evening, as the couple and their guests dined al fresco beneath the stately oak tree in the garden at Sonoma Golf.
